Whole Home Renovation in Northeast Oklahoma
Complete House Remodels Managed by One Team
When more than one room needs work, doing it piecemeal costs you more time, more money, and more disruption than handling it all at once. Shea Construction does full-house renovations across the Green Country region. We gut the interior, redesign the layout in 3D, upgrade every system, and rebuild the home from the framing out. One contractor coordinates every trade on one timeline.
Complete Home Remodeling for Northeast Oklahoma Homeowners
A whole-home renovation typically costs $15 to $60 per square foot for standard upgrades and $60 to $150 per square foot for a complete gut renovation with new mechanical systems, structural changes, and premium finishes. For a 2,000-square-foot home, that means a range of roughly $30,000 for a selective refresh to $300,000 or more for a full gut rebuild. Oklahoma’s construction costs run approximately 20% below the national average, which stretches your renovation budget further than it would in most states.
Â
Shea Construction handles whole-home renovations across more than 30 cities in the Green Country region. When we say whole home, we mean every room, every system, and every surface. Demolition, structural changes, electrical rewiring, plumbing updates, HVAC replacement, drywall, flooring, tile, cabinetry, paint, trim, and exterior finish if needed. We manage every trade under one contract, on one schedule, with one project manager keeping it all on track.
Â
Every whole-home project starts with a full 3D rendering through Plan 7 Architect Pro. You see the new layout, material selections, and room-by-room design on screen before we start any demolition . Changes happen in the design phase when they’re free, not mid-construction when they’re expensive.
Signs Your Home Needs a Complete Renovation
Multiple Rooms Need Work at the Same Time
If the kitchen, bathrooms, flooring, and systems all need attention, renovating one room at a time stretches the disruption over months or years. A whole-home approach handles everything in a single project with one timeline. You live through the disruption once instead of four or five times.
The Floor Plan Doesn't Work for How You Live
Closed-off kitchens, narrow hallways, awkward room placement, and dead space that serves no purpose. If the layout is the problem, individual room updates won’t fix it. A whole-home renovation lets you reconfigure walls, remove barriers, and create the open-concept flow that matches how your family actually uses the house.
Electrical, Plumbing, or HVAC Are Outdated
Homes built before the 1990s often have electrical panels that can’t handle modern loads, plumbing that’s corroding, and HVAC systems that waste energy. If the bones of the house need upgrading, a whole-home renovation lets you tear into the walls once, update every system behind them, and close everything up with new finishes.
You Bought a Fixer-Upper and Need to Bring It Up to Standard
If you purchased a home knowing it needed work, a whole-home renovation is the most efficient way to bring it up to your standard. Instead of living in a half-finished house for two years, one comprehensive project gets you from “as-purchased” to “move-in ready” in a single pass.
You're Debating Whether to Renovate or Build New
If you love the lot, the neighborhood, and the location but not the house, renovation is almost always cheaper than tearing down and rebuilding. In Oklahoma, a new custom home costs $100 to $220 per square foot. A whole-home renovation on an existing structure typically costs less because the foundation, framing, and exterior are already in place.
Types of Whole-Home Projects We Handleeervices We Provide
Everything comes out down to the studs. We strip the interior, assess and repair the structural framing, update all mechanical systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC), and rebuild the interior from scratch with new drywall, flooring, tile, cabinetry, fixtures, and finishes throughout. This is the right approach for older homes with outdated systems, water damage, or layouts that need fundamental changes.
Removing walls between the kitchen, dining room, and living area to create open-concept living. Load-bearing wall removal requires structural engineering, header installation, and sometimes foundation reinforcement. We assess the structural implications before the design phase and include all engineering in the project scope. The result is a modern, open floor plan built on a sound structure.
For homes that are structurally sound but have outdated systems and finishes. We update the electrical panel and wiring, replace plumbing, install a new HVAC system, and refinish every surface. This approach is less expensive than a full gut because the framing and layout stay in place. The result is a home with new systems and modern finishes inside an existing shell.
For homeowners who want a full renovation but need to spread the cost and timeline across two or more phases. We design the entire project in 3D as a single plan, then build it in agreed-upon stages. Phase one might be the kitchen and main living area. Phase two picks up the bathrooms and bedrooms. Phased work costs slightly more total than doing everything at once, but it lets you manage the budget in stages.
Benefits of a Whole-Home Renovation
One Project, One Disruption, One Result
Renovating room by room means living with construction for years. A whole-home renovation compresses that disruption into a single project on one timeline. You live through it once, and when it’s done, every room is finished. No more waiting for “next year” to tackle the bathroom or the flooring.
More Efficient Than Doing It Room by Room
When you renovate the entire home at once, trades like electrical, plumbing, and HVAC can be run through the whole house in a single pass. Mobilization costs, material deliveries, and crew scheduling happen once instead of multiple times. The result: a whole-home renovation typically costs 15% to 20% less total than the same work done as separate projects over several years.
Cheaper Than Tearing Down and Starting Over
A complete gut renovation at $60 to $150 per square foot is still less than building a new home at $100 to $220 per square foot in Oklahoma. Your existing home already has a foundation, framing, a roof, and utility connections. Renovating keeps that structural investment intact while upgrading everything inside and out. If the structure is sound, renovation is the better financial decision.
See the Finished Home Before Construction Starts
Using Plan 7 Architect Pro, we create a full 3D rendering of your renovated home. You walk through every room on screen, review the layout changes, approve material selections, and sign off on the final design before demolition starts. This level of visualization is especially important on whole-home projects where the scope is large, and every decision affects the rooms around it.

If the kitchen is the only room that needs a full renovation, a standalone kitchen remodel may be the right scope. Same 3D design process, same quality standards, focused on one room.
If you only need one or two bathrooms renovated and the rest of the home is in good shape, a bathroom-specific project keeps the scope and budget focused.
If the renovation also requires more square footage, we can combine a whole-home renovation with a room addition, second-story addition, or in-law suite as part of the same project.

Whole-Home Renovation Questions
How much does a whole-home renovation cost in Oklahoma?
Standard whole-home renovations in Oklahoma typically cost $15 to $60 per square foot. A full gut renovation with new mechanical systems and premium finishes ranges from $60 to $150 per square foot. For a 2,000-square-foot home, that’s $30,000 on the low end to $300,000 or more for a complete gut rebuild. We provide a detailed quote after the 3D design phase.
How long does a whole-home renovation take?
Most whole-home renovations take 3 to 6 months. A full gut renovation on a larger home can take 6 to 12 months, depending on the scope, structural modifications, and weather (if exterior work is involved). We provide a detailed project timeline before construction starts and give regular progress updates throughout.
Can I live in my home during a whole-home renovation?
For most whole-home projects, no. A full gut renovation requires the home to be vacated during construction. If the project is phased, you may be able to live in a finished section while work continues in another area, but this adds complexity and extends the timeline. We discuss living arrangements during the planning phase.
Is it cheaper to renovate or build new?
In most cases, renovating is cheaper. A gut renovation at $60 to $150 per square foot costs less than new construction at $100 to $220 per square foot in Oklahoma because the foundation, framing, and utility connections are already in place. The exception is a home with severe structural or foundation damage where repair costs approach or exceed the cost of starting over.
Do you offer financing for whole-home renovations?
Yes. We offer SweetPay financing for qualified clients. Given the larger scope and cost of whole-home projects, financing can help manage the investment in manageable monthly payments.
