Home Additions Contractor in Northeast Oklahoma
Room Additions, Second Stories, and Expansions Built to Match Your Home
Your family has grown, your needs have changed, and your house hasn’t kept up. Moving isn’t always the answer, especially when you love your neighborhood, your schools, and your property. A home addition gives you the space you need without giving up the home you already have. Shea Construction designs every addition in 3D and builds it to match your existing structure so it looks and feels like it was always there.
Home Addition Construction for Northeast Oklahoma Families
According to the National Association of Home Builders, nearly half of all owner-occupied homes in the United States were built before 1980. The median age of an American home is now 41 years, up from 31 years in 2005. That means a growing number of families are living in homes that were designed for a different time, with smaller closets, fewer bathrooms, tighter kitchens, and floor plans that don’t account for home offices, aging parents, or a third kid.
Shea Construction builds home additions across more than 30 cities in the Green Country region. We handle every phase of the project: structural engineering, foundation, framing, roofing, siding, windows, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and interior finish. The addition ties into your existing home’s structure, mechanical systems, and aesthetic, so there’s no visible seam between old and new.
Every addition starts with a 3D rendering through Plan 7 Architect Pro. You see how the new space connects to your existing floor plan, how the roofline integrates, and what the finished interior will look like before we touch your house.
Signs Your Home Needs an Addition
Your Family Has Outgrown the Floor Plan
Kids sharing bedrooms. No dedicated home office. A single bathroom for four people. When the daily routine feels like a traffic jam, your home isn’t working for the way you live anymore. A bedroom addition, bonus room, or master suite expansion solves the problem without uprooting your family.
You Need Space for an Aging Parent
An in-law suite with a private entrance, bathroom, and kitchenette lets your parent live close while keeping everyone’s independence intact. These additions are increasingly common across Northeast Oklahoma as families look for alternatives to assisted living.
You Work From Home and Need a Dedicated Space
A dining room table is not a home office. If you work remotely and need a quiet, functional workspace that’s separate from the rest of the house, a room addition built specifically for that purpose pays for itself in productivity and sanity.
You Love Your Location but Not Your Layout
Great lot. Great neighborhood. Great schools. Bad floor plan. If moving would cost you everything you like about where you live, an addition lets you fix the house without losing the location. A sunroom, expanded kitchen, or second-story addition can transform how your home functions.
You're Considering Selling Because You've Run Out of Room
Before you list, consider this: the cost of selling, buying, and moving often exceeds the cost of adding the space you need. An addition also increases your property’s value, which means you’re investing in an asset you already own instead of starting over somewhere else.
Types of Additions We Build
Single-room expansions including bedrooms, living rooms, home offices, and bonus rooms. These are ground-level additions built on a new foundation slab that ties into your existing structure. We match the roofline, siding, and exterior finish so the addition blends with the original home.
Adding a full or partial second floor to a single-story home. Second-story additions require structural engineering to ensure the existing foundation and framing can support the added load. This is the most complex type of addition we build, and the 3D design phase is critical for getting the structural plan right before construction starts.
Self-contained living spaces with a bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette, and private entrance. These additions function as independent units attached to or adjacent to your primary home. They work for aging parents, adult children, rental income, or guest accommodations.
Convert an open porch into a three-season or four-season room, or build a new sunroom from scratch. Four-season sunrooms include full HVAC, insulation, and weatherproofing so the space is usable year-round. Three-season rooms use insulated glass and ceiling fans without a full HVAC extension.
Benefits of a Professional Home Addition
Keep Your Home, Add What's Missing
Moving is expensive. Realtor commissions, closing costs, moving costs, and the stress of uprooting your family add up fast. A home addition gives you the space you need at a fraction of the disruption. In Oklahoma, home additions typically cost between $125 and $300 per square foot, depending on the type and finish level. A 300-square-foot bedroom addition could cost as little as $37,500. Compare that to the cost of selling, buying, and moving into a bigger home.
Built to Match, Not Bolted On
A poorly built addition stands out. The roofline doesn’t match, the siding is slightly off, and the interior transition feels awkward. We design every addition to integrate with your existing structure. Foundation ties into the existing slab or pier system. Roofline matches pitch and material. Siding, windows, and trim are sourced to match what’s already on your home.
HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical Done Right
Your new space needs more than walls and a roof. We extend or add HVAC systems, run new plumbing lines for bathrooms and kitchens, and wire the addition with full electrical service. All mechanical work is performed by licensed and insured subcontractors and inspected to code.
Your Addition Is an Investment
Added square footage increases your home’s appraised value. A well-built addition that matches the existing structure and neighborhood standards returns a significant portion of its cost at resale. More importantly, it gives you the space you need right now, in the home you already own.
What a Home Addition Includes
Shea Construction manages every phase of your addition from design to final walkthrough. Nothing is left out.
Full 3D rendering and professional blueprints through Plan 7 Architect Pro. Structural engineering to verify the existing foundation and framing can support the addition. If reinforcement is needed, we include that in the scope.
New slab poured and tied into the existing foundation. For pier and beam homes, we extend the pier system to match. Foundation type and depth depend on soil conditions in your area.
Wall framing, roof framing matched to your existing roofline pitch, and all exterior finish work. Siding, windows, and trim are sourced to match your current home. We partner with Gerkin Windows & Doors for window and door packages.
HVAC extension or dedicated mini-split system for the new space. Plumbing rough-in and finish for any added bathrooms, kitchens, or laundry. Full electrical wiring, outlets, switches, and fixtures.
Drywall, paint, flooring, trim, cabinetry (if applicable), and fixture installation. The transition between old and new spaces is finished, so the two feel like one continuous home. We work with Schluter, Kohler, Delta, Floor & Decor, and Carpet Mill for materials and fixtures.
We handle all permitting and required inspections. Every addition is backed by our 1-year warranty on workmanship.
Related Services
If your home can’t support the addition you need, or if the cost of expanding exceeds the value of starting fresh, a custom home build may be the better path. Same 3D design process, same full-service scope.
If the issue isn’t just space but also the condition and layout of your existing home, a whole-home renovation can address everything at once. Wall removal, open-concept conversions, updated systems, and new finishes throughout.
Every addition starts with the right foundation. If your existing foundation needs repair or reinforcement before the addition can be built, we handle that as part of the project.
